Based on a stranger than fiction true story of a dark and absurd scandal, this riotous mystery comedy reunites audience favourites Olivia Colman and Jessie Buckley. 1920s in the seaside town of Littlehampton, fiery Rose has little in common with her pious neighbour Edith. When Edith starts receiving scandalous letters written in foul language, she immediately accuses Rose of being the poison pen letter writer. As the outrageous letters continue to blight the town, Rose stands to lose her freedom and her daughter. Police officer Gladys Moss begins to suspect something is amiss. Together with a group of resourceful women, Gladys endeavours to solve the mystery, liberate Rose and catch the real culprit.
