A Sense of Place is the overarching theme in which culture and creativity are recognised as integral to life within County Laois with multi-faceted portals for everyone in the county to become involved in creativity and culture be that as initiators and innovators as well as participants and audiences.

In Laois through a multi-disciplinary programme and stand-alone projects, our intention is to nurture and foster creative expression in all its diversity; embrace and welcome new ideas; and create the conditions to help turn those ideas into reality and embed creativity into all aspects of the cultural, social and economic life of Laois.

Culture and Creativity is at the heart of our community and Creative Ireland provides a distinctive opportunity for County Laois to work strategically with our cultural, social and economic assets for the enrichment of the county.

The tools of Collaboration, Communication, Community, Participation, Inclusivity and Empowerment are paramount as points of inquiry and the platforming of our Sense of Place; informing strategic priorities underpinned with arts, heritage, libraries & archives, environment, enterprise, tourism, etc.

As a vibrant rural county proximate to Ireland’s capital and a gateway to the Irish midlands with a distinct built, natural and cultural heritage, our sense of place is reflective in traditional, current and future cultures and placemaking – a multi-faceted approach to planning, designing and maximising our assets, inspired by our past, present and future potential.

Our purpose if to foster an environment conducive to collaboration, innovation and creativity, so that the people of Laois can realise their full creative potential…Develop and support programmes to build confidence and increase quality of life through creative engagement with sense of place.
