Treacy’s has been family-owned and run as a public house as far back as 1780, according to the earliest records available. From the 1950’s Mrs. Mary Treacy, a widow with 6 young children, ran the pub with a grocery shop and Esso petrol pumps out front. In 1987 her youngest son Tom took over, and Treacy’s became a popular stopping point for people travelling on the old Cork/Limerick road to Dublin. Tom’s wife Marie always looked after customers with a chat and a toasted sandwich, and from there the idea for a good value restaurant grew. In 1987, Treacy’s Licenced Restaurant opened. The pub and restaurant is run today by Tom and Marie, their children and a team of 50 people from the local community. You can see some of the old family and business photos and memorabilia on display in the bar and the snug, which was the old family sitting room.
