Two Broke Divas Chill in Laois
In July Louise and Aoife, better known as the Two Broke Divas were looking for a place to have a catch up and chill out in each others company. Laois Tourism got it touch and suggested that they come and do just that in beautiful Laois.
Central Location
Ideally located in the Midlands, Laois isn’t too far from anywhere in Ireland. It’s just an hour from Dublin and Limerick, an hour and a half from Cork and Galway. The M7 and M8 run through Laois and it’s serviced by 2 train stations and multiple bus routes. With the ease of getting here, it makes it a great point to “meet in the middle” with friends and family, for leisure or for business.
Outdoors Yoga
Louise and Aoife wanted to try something different but at slower pace so they first headed to Blackhill Woods Yoga Retreat just outside Abbeyleix town. With Simon and Eilis, the owners, they took in a class in the outdoor yoga grove. Surrounded by trees and the peaceful countryside it was easy to begin to relax. Watch the Diva’s video here.
Afternoon Tea in a Castle
After working up an appetite the Divas headed south to the picturesque village of Durrow. (approx. 10 min drive). The next stop was a gourmet Afternoon Tea in Castle Durrow. The beautiful surroundings of Castle Durrow and excellent food meant that the conversation flowed and Divas thoroughly enjoyed their time here. To work off all the delicious food Louise and Aoife went for a stroll around the 300 year old gardens surrounding the castle. It’s worth a visit to Castle Durrow for the gardens alone. An Evening in the Spa
Feeling very chilled now the Divas headed to Portlaoise to the Midlands Park Hotel, their home for the evening. (approx. 20 min drive). To continue a day of complete relaxation the ladies hit the hotel spa and enjoyed 2 hours of pure pampering. Facials, body massages, robes and smoothies were the order of the afternoon. Feeling totally relaxed the Diva’s headed to their room and get ready for a night out.
Dinner in Kelly’s Steakhouse
Given that the day was one of catching up and relaxing with friends the Divas decided to eat in Kelly’s Steakhouse in the hotel. The ambience and ease of location was the perfect way to round off a great day. The locally renowned cocktails were served in the stylish Steakhouse. After a scrumptious meal the Divas took full advantage of being residents of the hotel for the night and decided to take dessert and a cocktail back to their room. What a perfect way to round off a chill out day, in your robe with your bestie and some great food and drink.
Sometimes we all need a chill weekend and following Aoife and Louise we’re thinking that chilling in Laois should be on everyone’s list of things to do.
