27th March @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm
€5
The next lecture in our Spring Lecture Series will be delivered by Dr Claire McCormick on a very interesting topic- The Palatine Migration of 1709 and its Irish Aftermath. In 1709, over 13,500 German refugees fled their homeland to escape religious persecution. Of these emigrants, roughly 3000 settled in Ireland. Dr. Claire McCormick will discuss the Palatine migration to Ireland, their travel to England and the Americas and the impact of the Palatine Migration on the Irish landscape with reference to the surrounds of Limerick and Laois.
