The Art of Making What Has Been, New: Pauline Clooney in Conversation with Marianne Lee

7th November @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

What does historical fiction demand of its writer? What is it like to create fictional characters out of the lives of real people? When does an author know when to stop researching and begin to imagine.  Charlotte and Arthur is Pauline Clooney’s first published book. Charlotte Bronte, the celebrated author of Jane Eyre, married her papa’s Curate, Irishman, Arthur Bells Nicholls. The couple’s honeymoon brought them to visit Arthur’s family in Banagher, Co Offaly. They tour Ireland against the backdrop of the recent Great Famine.
