On Culture Night, Friday, September 22nd, 2023, from 4pm to 10pm, The Laois Arthouse in Stradbally hosts a unique exhibition featuring a wide range of art forms, including painting, sculpture, design, and craftwork. This work was inspired by Evgeny Chubatyy’s 7-year experience of living in Vicarstown, County Laois.
Culture Night Art Exhibitions: Local Materials – My Vision by Evgeny Chubatyy
The Laois Arthouse in Stradbally is the location for Local Materials – My Vision, an exhibition by Evgeny Chubatyy. Taking place on Culture Night, Friday, September 22nd, 2023, from 4pm to 10pm, it finds the artist reflecting on her time living in Vicarstown, County Laois.
Evgeny says, “Through my artwork, I aim to illustrate the profound impact that the local culture and surroundings of Laois have had on my artistic journey. The central focus of these creations lies in the innovative use of a wide variety of materials that are currently accessible. I have predominantly utilised locally sourced materials, such as stones from the fields, trees felled by storms or cleared from roads, rusty metal from the backyard, and even peat.”
