Leaves 2022: Standing Our Ground – Salmon Women’s Writers’ Event
10th November @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm€12 – €15
Join Mary Dorcey, Jean O’Brien, Rita Kelly and Louise C. Callaghan for an evening of poetry celebrating 40 years of Salmon Publishing, as part of Leaves Festival 2022. Salmon Poetry, taking its name from the Salmon of Knowledge in Celtic mythology, was established in 1981 as an alternative voice in Irish literature. The Salmon, a journal of poetry and prose was a flagship for writers in the west of Ireland, and Salmon’s first books, Gonella by Eva Bourke and Goddess on the Mervue Bus by Rita Ann Higgins broke new ground for women poets.
