At the start of Autumn, for several evenings, the moonrise comes soon after sunset. This results in an abundance of bright moonlight early in the evening, which was a traditional aid to farmers and crews harvesting their summer-grown crops. Hence, it’s called the Harvest Moon!
On Friday, September 29th, 2023, from 9.30pm to 11.30pm, the team at Midland Escape give kayaking and paddle boarding fans the chance to soak up the moonlight with their Harvest Full Moon Paddle in Vicarstown, Co. Laois. Places are limited so booking is essential. Tickets are priced €45.
