This presentation will attempt to follow a typical Irish emigrant from their doorstep to the gangway through a series of associated sites along their heart-breaking journey. While numerous Irish people had been emigrating long before the Great Famine, this most devastating and dark period in Irish history triggered millions more to hastily leave the country, the majority never to return.
