Breaking Bread – Leaves Festival of Writing and Music
Breaking Bread is a podcast series and social art project in which Manchán Magan chats with residents of Direction Provision and Emergency Accommodation centres in Co Laois. He brings an oven and a butter churn to centres in order to bake bread, make butter and share stories with people from different corners of the world.
Extracts from the podcast series will be presented in a public venue (potentially Laois Shopping Centre) as part of Leaves Festival of Writing and Music in November 2020 with a simple theatrical art installation in which Manchán Magan bakes bread and churns butter in the shopping centre while the public listen to recordings from the podcast series.
A Creative Ireland Laois 2020 project as part of the Creative Ireland Programme 2017-2022 in partnership with Laois County Council.
