Outdoor Playground Fun

Being a rural based county means there is lots of space for parks and playgrounds in Laois.  Nearly every town and village in the county has a well maintained playground with the latest of equipment.  You will find that the playgrounds are not too far from the main attractions.

Historic Settings

The park in Timahoe is based next to the historic Round Tower right in the heart of the village.   The secure setting of Abbeyleix park next to Abbeyleix Heritage House makes it perfect for younger children.

Large Skate Park

The large park in Portlaise next to the Leisure Centre boasts a skate track and outdoor gym for older children and adults as well as a large children's playground for the under 12s.  A good spot to keep children of all ages entertained.   For a quieter experience the People's Park in Portlaoise offers much more open space and a lovely river walk and smaller playground.  So you can tailor different days out to suit all.

Designed by Children For Children

The large playground in Rathdowney is a mecca for children.  It was designed by the local children and really delivers on a fun day out.   It regularly appears on many a school tour itinerary.
