The Arthouse delivers a strong, year round artistic programme. This unique facility supports artists in the development of their professional work with its impressive facilities. There are four artists’ studios, two non-residential and two residential, available to professional artists, local, national and international artists. The complex includes an exhibition space and a full exhibition programme throughout the year.
Facilities include a kiln, a garden space and access to a public library. The Arthouse Gallery hosts numerous exhibitions, as well as artist residencies, art workshops, tours, and talks. Visiting artists on the residency programme have included Cathy Carman, John Keating, Mary Burke, Jock Nichol, Nuala Hayes and Saidhbhín Gibson.
Artist residencies form a major part of the programme and highlights include Portraiture with Nick Miller and the highly successful “Townscape” project with artist Mary Burke. Our Summer programme has included master classes for adults in botanical art with artist Mary Dillon, En Plein Air events with Jock Nichol, and portraiture programmes with John Keating and Una Sealy.
The complex hosts an Artists Collective where artists get together monthly, to assist and develop their professional careers. The apartments and studios are also used by visiting sculptors working on projects locally at McKeon Stone, such as sculptors Simon Carman, and Eileen McDonagh.
