Castleview Open Farm is situated in the tidy little village of Cullahill Co. Laois. It comprises of 14 acres of grass lands and a further 2 acres of indoor areas. It first opened on the 27thof July 2019.

It is run by the Saunders family who made the switch from a beef finishing system to tourism due to the uncertainty in the beef sector and to find a more environmentally sustainable approach to farming.

There is something for everyone at the Farm.

The indoor area hosts a play shop, a post office, toy farm, mini bowling, basketball, ring toss, soccer shoot out, electric go karts and lots more. It also hosts all of the small animals including Rabbits and babies, Pheasants, guinea pigs, hens, Silky, Polish and Japanese bantams and let us not forget Declan and Ian, the resident Micro Pigs. There is also a café on site for refreshments.

Outside there is a looping walkway throughout. On the walkway you will find a beautiful fairy garden, vegetable garden and many, many animals. There is also an outdoor play area which has slides, swings, swing ball and a zip line. A little further on you will find a large maze to challenge your intellect and direction. The outdoor animals include donkeys, horses, sheep, goats, ducks, geese and Simmental cattle. This year a fold of Highland Cattle, pigmy goats and silver foxes have been added to the herd.

The Farm is currently open for the summer every day 11am to 6pm except on Tuesdays and Wednesdays when it is closed for maintenance. There are events ran for the holiday seasons including an Easter egg hunt at Easter, Pumpkin carving and a witches den at Halloween, a visit from Santa, Mrs Claus and the elves during Christmas and other small celebratory events during the year.

The farm caters for Birthday parties, School tours and an array of other celebrations.
