Welcome to 2019 and what's on this January in Laois. After a hectic couple of months in the lead up to christmas and New Year things are a little quieter this month. However there is still lots to do Dumamaise Arts Centre has a full programme of events, including Sharon Shannon and the annual Portlaoise Panto. There's a snooker extravaganza in the Midland's Park Hotel featuring starring Ken Doherty, Dennis Taylor with special guest John Virgo. Finally, as there is so much to do outdoors in Laois there are many organised walks and events to help work off the Christmas excesses.
This hugely popular event takes place again on the June Bank Holiday Weekend 2019, between Friday May 31st and Monday 3rd June 2019, and prides itself on being the oldest motor sporting event of the year. It welcomes classic petrol heads from all over the globe to join in this, journey back in time experience. And what an experience it is, to sit in your timeless masterpiece of an automobile, whist drinking in the awe-inspiring splendour of the Irish countryside or ambling through the quaint and curious little towns. Even if you’re not taking part, it is an equally thrilling experience to be an onlooker. And if you have never had any desire to own or drive one of these vehicles before, trust that at the end of the day you will.
The event will include community and visitor engagement through promenade theatre style sketches, re-enactments, storytelling and traditional music.
