Formed in 1993 Kilvahan Horse-drawn Caravans is based in the Slieve Bloom mountains of Co. Laois at a beautifully restored farmstead combining old and new buildings including a new indoor-arena. Since 2006 Kilvahan Horse-drawn Caravans is under new management. We also breed and produce horses - riding and driving. We offer you, our guests, full facilities - toilets and showers, landscaped caravan parking area, picnic gardens and barbecue, reception area with fire place, playground and pet-zoo for the children, etc.

Located at Coolrain, less than 3 miles from the N7, the Laois Angling Centre combines the peace and tranquillity of the Irish country side with exceptional game and coarse fishing. The four large spring fed lakes, surrounded by mature woodlands, Clonoghil House and farmlands provide the perfect natural conditions for both the fish and fisherman. The lakes are stocked regularly with brown and rainbow trout, carp and bream ensuring a varied and interesting experience.

Laois Heritage Trail Laois, one of Ireland’s most interesting counties, is also one of its least discovered. To help visitors and long-time residents explore Laois, this guide offers information on the sites that make up the Heritage Trail. If you are interested in castles, the Rock of Dunamase is the place to begin. Wildlife lovers and sportsmen should visit the Fly Fishing and Game Shooting Museum. Architecture buffs might want to start at Emo Court, while those who love fine handwork should head straight for the museum in Mountmellick. At several of these sites, works from the county’s Sculpture Trail prove that the creative energy that shaped Laois is as vibrant as ever. This Heritage Trail is only the beginning. More than 1,000 monuments and places of historical interest have been identified in Laois. All through the county, the people at the sites, museums and tourist offices are there to help you pursue your interests. So set off down one of the county’s winding roads. Laois Kayak and Canoe Club is involved in many different types of kayaking and canoeing, ranging from white water river-running and canoe polo to freestyle play boating and flat-water racing. The Club aims to introduce everyone to the sport of kayaking, and caters for every level of skill, from complete beginner to expert paddling. The 16th Annual Laois Walks Festival features over twenty walks along numerous woodland, mountain, bog, canal and minor road routes across County Laois. The Laois Walks Festival runs for the full month of July and takes in 20 walks from right across Laois. With something for all ages and abilities, this is a great opportunity to get outdoors and to become more familiar with the wonderful range of walks that Laois has to offer.
